This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It exists for a practical reason: Hookshift publishes to Instagram through Meta's API, and misuse by one customer can cost every customer their service. The rules below are the ones that keep that from happening.
1. Content you may not upload or publish
Do not use Hookshift for content that:
you do not hold the rights to, including music, footage, images and text
infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property
features a person who has not agreed to appear in it, where their agreement is needed
is sexually explicit, or sexualises minors in any way
depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, or cruelty
promotes hatred against, or harassment of, people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity
is deceptive, fraudulent, or promotes a scam
makes health, medical, financial or earnings claims that are false or that you cannot substantiate
is illegal where you are or where it will be seen
Music deserves its own line. Audio you bake into an upload must be audio you are licensed to use commercially. "It was trending" is not a licence.
2. Instagram's rules apply to you too
Publishing through Hookshift does not put you outside Instagram's rules. You must not use the service to do anything that Instagram's Terms of Use, Community Guidelines or Platform Policy prohibit.
In particular, do not use Hookshift to:
publish to an account you do not own or are not authorised to manage
impersonate a person, brand or organisation
operate accounts that misrepresent who is behind them
inflate engagement artificially, or coordinate with others to do so
publish the same content in a way designed to mislead the platform or its users about what is being posted or by whom
3. Use the service as intended
Do not:
share your account with other people, or resell access to it
use one subscription for Instagram accounts belonging to different people or businesses
attempt to raise publishing limits beyond what Instagram permits, or ask us to
automate against the service outside the interfaces we provide
probe, scan, or test the security of the service, or try to reach data belonging to another customer
reverse engineer the service, or copy it to build a competing product
upload malware, or files crafted to exploit the media processing pipeline
place a load on the service designed to degrade it for others
4. Other people's data
Hookshift works on your own account. Do not use it to gather, infer or store information about other people's accounts, followers or audiences.
5. What happens if you break this policy
Depending on what happened, we may warn you, pause publishing on your account, suspend the account, or terminate it. Where the breach is serious, where the law requires it, or where leaving it running would put the service or other customers at risk, we act immediately and explain afterwards.
Repeat copyright infringement leads to termination. See the DMCA Policy.
Where we can, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it, because most breaches of this policy are mistakes rather than intentions.
6. Reporting a problem
If you think content published through Hookshift breaks this policy, write to support@hookshift.co with a link and a description. Copyright complaints go through the DMCA Policy.
